    The firm was created by Andr\u00e9 Portier, within the company Henri Portier et Cie, specialized since the 19th century in the import of silk from the Far East. Henri, his father, collected art objects, some of which were sold at the H\u00f4tel Drouot on January 21, 22 and 23, 1902. Andr\u00e9 Portier participated as an appraiser in the sales of great collections such as Haviland, Gonse, Corbin, Migeon, Vever, Vignier, Manzi and Vitta, for Asian Art as well as Oceanic, African and Pre-Columbian Art, in collaboration with auctioneers such as Lair-Dubreuil, Baudoin, Flagel and Etienne Ader. \r\n<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/li>\r\n

    Guy Portier, who had until then been in charge of the silk department of the family company, freed from his military obligations, replaced his imprisoned father. Andr\u00e9 Portier died in 1963. The firm gradually focused on Asian Art. Guy Portier developped a passion for Japanese prints. He will be, with his son Thierry, the appraiser of the legendary sales of the Lev\u00e9el collection of Japanese prints which will take place in 1979 and 1980.\r\nIn 1967, Guy Portier included for the first time in a sale catalog a list of estimates for the objects offered at sale, which revolutionized the way of approaching auctions.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/li>\r\n

    Thierry Portier joined the firm in 1973, when the Japanese art market was at its highest. Among other things, he deals with the sales of the Corbin, Lichtenberger and Rouvi\u00e8re collections. He is also in charge of the sales the Doctor Maurin collection of Chinese objects, the Hussein Pasha collection and the Robert de Strycker collection of Chinese lacquerware and porcelain. Korea is also honored with the sale of the collection of Mr and Mrs Mallet, former French ambassador to Korea.\r\nGuy Portier died in 2005. Thierry Portier was appointed honorary expert at the Court of Appeal of Paris, and expert at the French Syndicate of Experts in Works of Art and Collections (SFEP).<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/li>\r\n

    Alice Jossaume, sinologist, joined the firm in 2004. Among other things, she appraises the Lefebvre D'Argenc\u00e9, Moreau, Lecuir, Strycker and Semall\u00e9 collections. The dispersion of these collections marks the Parisian Asian art market: an extremely rare tixi lacquer ewer from the Strycker collection (2007) is sold for 1.35 million euros. In 2016, she appraised an exceptional seal of the Qianlong Emperor, whose auction remains to this day the highest auction in the history of Drouot for an Asian object: 21 million euros (incl. buyer's premium). The print by Utamaro, Hidden Love, from the Portier collection was sold for \u20ac744,000 (incl. buyer's premium), a world record for the artist in 2016.\r\nShe is behind a grouping of sales of Asian objects at Drouot during an Asia week in Paris, one of the highlights of the year for customers from all over the world.\r\nIn 2013, she became a partner at Cabinet Portier, then in 2016 Thierry Portier retired, and she then assumed the management of the firm.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/li>\r\n
